Color Guard 1967 |
State champions and the school roars with
approval, This past summer the Aquinas Color Guard under the
direction of Fr. Whitley C.S.B. won its first American Legion
State Championship in five years of competition. In August the Guard entered the National Finals of the American Legion in Washington and there placed seventh in the nation, missing second only on a penalty that was uncommon in New York State. Then at the New York State Exposition the Guard successfully defended their title, walking off with the state title for the third time in the past four years. This year the Guard is off again on a winning year and with national and state competitions planned for the coming summer we may have National Champs next year. |
Band 1967 |
With the absence of Fr. Udall on the Aquinas
scene this year, a new director brought up in the classic style
of bands came to Aquinas. Mr. Sebastian Calabro assumes leadership,
after coming here from Nebraska. Mr. Calabro has recently earned
his master's degree in music and should amply fill the shoes
of Fr. Udall. Under Mr. Calabro's direction, the band this past summer placed second in the American Legion State Finals, and third in the All-State finals. Along with a number of small competitions and parades, the band also is superb in concert work as was seen in the last concert. |
